It was 8th
March – the International Women’s Day. A 26 year old girl put up full page
advertisement in all Hindi newspapers of Bihar declaring herself the CM
candidate for the upcoming Assembly Election. It created a sort of ripples
throughout Bihar.
Initially, it was
perceived as a handy work of Prashant Kishore. However, soon it was revealed
that the advertisement was in an individual capacity by that London based young
girl, named Pushpam Priya Choudhary.
Profile and Wiki of Pushpam Priya Choudhary
Pushpam Priya is the
daughter of senior JDU leader Binod Chaudhary. It may be noted that Binod has
long been associated with Nitish Kumar. However, he had never fought any direct
election. He was once sent to Bihar Legislative Council as MLC by JDU.
Pushpam has completed
her schooling from Patna and then went to London for higher studies. She has
done double M.A. – one in Public Administration and the other in Development
Studies from premier universities of UK.
She had registered her
party – Plurals – in 2019. In fact, she was planning to enter the fray for long
and had already made a team of dedicated volunteers. She just decided to
publicly launch it on the Women’s Day.
The ‘LOGO’ of Plurals is
flying horse. Obviously, this may not become her election symbol as that will
be decided by the Election Commission later.
Transparency and Funding
The biggest problem
Pushpam may face is the issue of transparency. She has not revealed the funding
structure for her party. The full page advertisements in all newspapers should
have cost lots of money. If she is promising transparent and accountable
government led by her, then she should have started from her.
